Rwanda gorilla trekking tour is the ultimate chance to see the famous majestic gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park and Get the feel of the Kinyarwanda traditions and culture dating from the pre-colonial era and an opportunity to taste the local foods and locally brewed wines and to participate in cultural activities such as storytelling, singing and dancing around a campfire and spend the night in a traditional hut.
The journey will start upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, or at the pickup at your accommodation if you are already in Kigali, you will be met and warmly welcomed by our tour guide/driver. Before you are transferred to Volcanoes National Park, you will first do a half Kigali City tour to experience the dynamics of the local bargaining as you look forward to purchasing souvenirs from the local town markets of Kimironko market. You will also visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre for a historical tour and lecture on the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi. After that, enjoy a scenic journey drive to the park giving you amazing views of Rwanda’s hills and valleys leading to different communities and villages with stopovers at various trading centres.
Early in the morning, you wake up to a tasty breakfast and start your second-day cultural tour with a drive to the Iby’wacu Cultural Village for a detailed account of the Kinyarwanda traditions and culture dating from the pre-colonial era.
This is the most enticing of this tour as you get to participate in real life with the people here having the opportunity to taste the local foods and locally brewed wines. You will participate in cultural activities such as storytelling, singing and dancing around a campfire and spend the night in a traditional hut. We spend the night here and prepare for the next day’s adventures.
After an early breakfast, get ready for the most exciting part of your tour which is gorilla trekking, upon arrival at the Volcanoes National Park headquarters, you will be briefed on the do’s and don’ts of the trek then get started on the hike in search for the gorillas. On several occasions, it takes between 1 to 6 hours to trek the gorillas depending on their current stay.
You will be guaranteed one hour to interact with the gorillas. It is really a nice experience seeing them play, guard each other, feed their little ones, etc. After the trek, we will take our journey back to Kigali and your driver guide will drop you off at your hotel or the airport if you have a flight back.
