Itineraries

Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park

After a warm welcome at the Kigali international Airport, upon arrival in Kigali, your driver guide will take you to Akagera National Park. You will enjoy a half day game drive before heading to Lake Ihema for sunset boat ride, perfect for bird watching and spotting animals like crocodiles, hippos, and elephants, either in the water or along the lakeshore. After the boat ride, you will head to Akagera Game Lodge/Ruzizi tented lodge for an overnight stay and dinner.

 

Day 2: Full-Day Safari Adventure in Akagera National Park

After breakfast, you will meet your driver guide and embark on a game drive through Akagera National Park, Central Africa largest protected wetland and the last remaining refuge for savannah-adapted species in Rwanda, the park is home to the “Big Five”: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffaloes. You will have the opportunity to spot a diverse array of wildlife in their natural habitat, this activity takes about 6 hours and later you will be transferred back to Kigali.

Day 3: Scenic Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

On the third day of the tour, you will embark on a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rain forest, rich in biodiversity and spectacularly beautiful, on the way you will stop to King’s Palace Museum and the Ethnographic Museum to learn about Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage and its kingdom history, before continuing your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park, overnight in a nearby location.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk Adventure

Embark on chimpanzee trekking experience, where you will observe these fascinating primates in their natural forest habitat, Later, you will enjoy a walk on the canopy walkway starting from the Uwinka Visitor Centre. This walkway takes about 2 hours to complete, offering perfect panoramic views of the forest.

Day 5: Kamiranzovu Waterfall & Gisakura Tea Plantation Tour

This morning, you will explore kamiranzovu waterfall in Nyungwe National park, followed by visiting Gisakura Tea Plantation estate. here, you will learn about the tea making process and have the opportunity to sample the local brew. Afterward, you will take a drive to Karongi for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Lake Kivu & Napoleon Island

The day will start with breakfast and after breakfast; you will embark on a boat cruise in the beautiful Lake Kivu, during which you will make a visit in Napoleon Island to witness the unusual ecology present there, you will have a one-hour hike that will award you with breathtaking views of the islands and the lake.

Day 7: Karongi to Volcanoes National Park: Scenic Drive and Ellen DeGeneres Campus Visit

Day 7 start with transfer to Volcanoes National Park, home of majestic mountain Gorillas, then after visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn more about the conservation and preservation efforts to protect gorillas, afterward, head to accommodation for relax and prepare gorilla trekking experience for the next day.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

The most exciting day of your tour has arrived! You will rise early, enjoy breakfast, and then head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a brief orientation on the gorilla trekking code of conduct. Afterward, you will embark on your gorilla trekking experience, one of the highlights of your Rwanda experience. You will spend one hour with your allocated gorilla family and observe their interaction face-to-face. Following your trek, you will enjoy lunch before visiting the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village, a community dedicated to showcasing traditional lifestyles, dances, and Rwanda traditional culture. Afterward, return to your accommodation for dinner and night stay.

Day 9: Golden Monkey Trekking and Departure from Kigali

On the last day of the tour, you will experience the Golden Monkey trekking in the Volcanoes National Park. similar to the Gorillas once located you will spend one hour with these lively primates observing them in their natural habitat. After this amazing experience embark on a scenic road trip back to Kigali where you will have the chance to shop for souvenirs to take home while visiting different craft shops in Kigali. Later, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
