Itineraries

Day 1: Airport Pickup

You will be transferred from the airport in Kigali. You’ve been dreaming of your safari for so long and now it’s finally about to begin. You’ll meet your guide who will tell you everything you need to know to get your safari started. We’re as excited as you are to get your trip underway. A fast-expanding capital known for its hilly setting and litter-free avenues, Kigali promises an enjoyable introduction to urban Africa. Here you can explore a lively arts scene, traditional markets, several museums and memorials, and tempting restaurants representing most global cuisines. An attractive central location places Kigali within half a day of all the country’s tourist hot spots.

Day 2: Akagera National Park

In the morning, after a good breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by your driver guide to give you a city tour. After the tour you will have lunch in Kigali, then proceed to head to Akagera National park in the afternoon, you will arrive there just in time for a sunset boatride in Lake Ihema. You’ll be startled by the biodiversity protected within Akagera National Park. Following extensive reintroductions, this uncrowded safari destination is home to all the Big Five, namely elephant, buffalo, black rhino, lion and leopard. Plenty of other wildlife thrives in Akagera’s scenic wooded savannah, hilly grassland, open lakes and marshy wetlands. On dryland, look out for giraffe, zebra, warthog, baboon and 10 species of antelope, from the bull-sized eland to the dainty duiker. Hippos and crocs are common in wetland habitats, which also support the secretive sitatunga antelope and the bizarre shoebill, the most eagerly sought of 550 listed bird species.

Day 3: Akagera National Park

Our expert guide will take you on a game drive and you’ll see a large number of animals and learn so much about wildlife
this morning in Akagera National Park. After the game drive you will return to Mantis Akagera Game Lodge for a
refreshing dip in the pool or for a cool drink.

Day 4: Game Drive & Transfer back to Kigali

On the fourth day of your trip, you will enjoy a game drive in Akagera National Park to see a variety of wildlife, including the Big 5 animals. After the game drive, you will be transferred by road back to your accommodation in Kigali.

Day 5: Road Transfer from Kigali to Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge

This morning you will be transfered from Kigali to Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge located in Kisoro(Uganda). Situated at a refreshing altitude of 1,900m, Kisoro is an attractive small town notable for its busy potato market and scenic location below the Virunga peaks protected within Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.  These soulful creatures and the remarkable landscape they inhabit are worth every second that you walk through the forest to find them. Batwa Trail, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park Traditional skills of the hunter-gatherer Batwa, from starting a fire by rubbing together sticks to hunting with a bow and arrow, are showcased on the well-thought-out Batwa Trail. You’ll also discuss the contemporary plight of the Batwa, who acted as custodians of the Virunga’s forests for millennia prior to the arrival of modern conservationists.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park

On this day you can be confident of seeing hippo, elephant, buffalo, warthog and a variety of grazers including the handsome Uganda kob, which is the national antelope. This is also the most reliable park in Uganda for lions, the best place anywhere in Africa to look for the massive giant forest hog, and it boasts an astonishing checklist of 610 bird species, ranging from pelicans and flamingos to a host of colorful weavers and sunbirds.

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park

On the eighth day of the 10 Days Rwanda and Uganda tour, you will return to Queen Elizabeth National Park to further explore its rich biodiversity. Extending across a well-watered 1,978km² stretch of the Rift Valley floor, Queen Elizabeth National Park packs in a biodiversity that would be the envy of many far larger African conservation areas. Wildlife viewing is excellent.

Day 9: Transfer by Road, Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kigali

On the ninth day of your tour, you will be transferred back to Kigali from the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.

Day 10: Gifts and Souvenirs Shopping & Airport Drop Off

It’s a pity that it has to end, but this is where your safari will draw to a close. On this day your driver guide will take you different shops for gifts and souvenirs shopping, and later be transferred to the airport. We’re sure that you will return home with so many exciting and happy memories, and we hope that you will join us again on safari sometime in the future.
