This 7-day safari adventure will begin in Rwanda’s vibrant capital city Kigali, exploring important historical sites like the Kigali Genocide Memorial and trek through Volcanoes National Park to see the playful golden monkeys and encounter majestic mountain gorillas in Bwindi, it continues with a wildlife exploration in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and later learn about the conservation efforts at the Ellen DeGeneres Campus.

Itineraries

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, City Tour and Transfer to Musanze

The tour will start from Kigali International Airport, where you will be welcomed and picked up by our driver guide. Then the tour begins with a guided tour of Kigali, where you will visit the popular sites, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which offers insight and a brief understanding of Rwanda’s history and resilience. After that, you will keep on exploring Kigali passing by the local markets to experience the vibrant culture of Rwandans. Following the city tour, you will take the road on transfer to Musanze, the home of the Volcanoes National Park. After you arrive in Musanze, you will check in to your hotel, unwind and enjoy dinner, preparing for the next day.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Uganda

After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, you will head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a short briefing session before you start the golden monkey trekking experience accompanied by an experienced guide on the trek you will get to observe these playful primates in their natural habitat. After spending time with the golden monkeys, you will be transferred to Uganda, where you will check in to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay, preparing for a more exciting experience the next day.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park

On this day, you will wake up early for an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After breakfast, you will head to the park, and first attend a briefing session from park rangers about the dos and don’ts and guidelines of the gorilla trekking. The trek is challenging but at the same very rewarding to see the gorillas up close in their natural environment as it is truly an extraordinary experience. After the trek, you will return to your hotel to relax, enjoy dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Following breakfast, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular national parks. After you arrive at the park, you will start with a game drive, where you will have the chance to see a variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, and possibly even lions. The park is known for its diverse ecosystems, including savannahs, forests, and wetlands, making it a prime location for anyone who wants to do wildlife viewing. After that, you will head to the lodge to check in to unwind and enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day 5: Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park

The fifth day of the adventure continues with an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is the perfect time to catch sight of wildlife as they are more active during the mid-day hours. Amid the game drive, you will stop for a moment to have your well-packed lunch before embarking on an afternoon boat cruise in the Kazinga Channel. This scenic cruise offers an opportunity to see hippos basking in the sun and a variety of bird species, including pelicans and kingfishers. After your full day of wildlife encounters, you will return to your lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer Back to Musanze & Visit Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund

After a good restful night and breakfast, you will begin your road trip back to Rwanda heading to Musanze specifically. Upon arrival, you will visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, for a tour that highlights the important conservation work that is being done to protect gorillas and their habitats. Additionally, you can expect to learn more about Dian Fossey’s legacy. After your visit, you will check in at your hotel in Musanze for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali, Local Markets Visits and Airport Dropoff

On the final day of your tour, you will enjoy a good breakfast at your hotel before heading back to the road for a transfer to Kigali. Once in the city, you will visit local markets, where you can see firsthand the vibrant atmosphere of Kigali locals. This is also a great opportunity to interact with the locals and learn more about Rwandan culture. After exploring the market, you will stop by a craft shop to pick up souvenirs and artisanal products to remember your trip. Finally, you will head to Kigali International Airport for your flight back.
