ITINERARY OF 7 DAYS RWANDA AND UGANDA PRIMATE SAFARI

DAY ONE: Arrive in Kigali international airport

Your 7 days Rwanda and Uganda primate safari will start On arrival, our representative will welcome and transfer you to Volcanoes National park. You will enjoy a spectacular scenic view of the Virunga Mountains en route.

DAY TWO: Gorilla Trekking Adventure & Iby’iwacu Cultural Village.

Take your early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing before commencing the mountain gorilla trekking.

You will spend at least an hour interacting with these awesome gorillas – take photographs as they feed or dramatically play around.

After lunch visit, Iby’iwacu Cultural Village – get immersed in real Kinyarwanda cultural practices! Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel. End of 2nd day Rwanda and Uganda primate safari.

DAY THREE: Dian Fossey Tomb tour

After your breakfast undertake a hike to Karisoke Research Centre to witness the graveyard for the famous primatologist – The Late Dian Fossey. Later transfer to Lake Kivu for relaxation at the beach and stay overnight at the hotel/ homestay. End of 3rd day Rwanda and Uganda primate safari package.

DAY FOUR: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest or Kibale Forest National Park (Uganda).

After your breakfast, you will then drive to southern Rwanda to Nyungwe forest national park. Alternatively, cross to Uganda’s Kibale forest national park

The most renowned primates park in Africa, with over 13 primates species in one forest. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel around Nyungwe or Uganda. End of 4th day Rwanda and Uganda primate safari.

DAY FIVE: Chimpanzee Trekking.

After breakfast transfer to the park headquarters to be briefed about the “dos and don’ts” while with the chimps in the forest. Your guide will transfer you to the starting point for Chimps tracking.

Expect to encounter the chimps and many other primates like the black and white monkeys and various bird species along the trail.

Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (luxury)/ Nyungwe Top View Lodge(Deluxe)/ Gisakura Guest House (budget). If in Uganda, this afternoon transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park for an overnight stay at your preferred hotel. End of 5th day Rwanda and Uganda primate safari tour.

DAY SIX: Colobus monkey tracking and canopy walk or game drives in Queen Elizabeth national park

Take breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by the park warden. Begin the forest hike along with other visitors and park rangers following trails to the colobus monkeys.

In the alternative, a canopy walk is another highlight worth undertaking. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (luxury)/ Nyungwe Top View Lodge(Deluxe)/ Gisakura Guest House (budget 

In case you opt for Uganda, a game drive in the park and a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel will be a big highlight and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury)/Park View Safari Lodge(mid-range)/Enganzi Lodge (budget).

DAY SEVEN: Kigali city tour and Departure

Enjoy your breakfast and drive back to Kigali for your scheduled flight back home. Visit Murambi Memorial, Nyanza palace or Butare Museum en route.

What type of food is typical in Rwanda/Uganda?

The food may not be sophisticated but benefits from the inclusion of fresh fruit and vegetables. You will find a largely vegetarian diet, although meat is available. The cuisine is largely based around beans, potatoes, sweet potatoes, bananas, and rice.

 
What's the weather look like in Rwanda

Any time of year is a good time to travel in Rwanda. Rwanda is known as eternal spring. It maintains a relatively even temperature of about 76.3°F – 82°F/ 24.6°C – 27.6 °C. The hottest time of year is August through September. Evenings are often cool and refreshing and a sweater is suggested. There are two rainy seasons, March through May and October through December. The rainy season shows itself typically with a daily downpour mixed with sunshine. The annual rainfall averages 31.5 in/ 80 cm.

For cancellations received within 7 calendar days before the scheduled departure date a 100% cancellation fee will be charged
